This Side Of Paradise
I have been reading This Side Of Paradise, a book by F. Scott Fitzgerald about the intellectual awakening of a young man which stangely mirrors mine. But I wonder maybe it's the same for many for us. While reading the book i realized that i have not "chronicled" my daily life/thoughts in a "poetic" form for a long time. It was something i used to do often and with ease but it seemed as though i had lost my muse along the way. Anyway, thought i shall give it a shot here - An afterthought from reading the book.
To begin, here's a quote from the poem from which the title of the book was derived.
"Well this side of paradise!
There's little comfort in the wise."
-Rupert Brooke
a rhyme to me to take a whiff
oh how then shall i begin this piece
to pose albeit with modern flair
a sigh is found 'tween seasons lost
but a ruse the scent of air
bemoan the heart that has to thread
upon streets sterile without regret.
ah! but look! those wavering lights
that clamour so for winter snow
let this heart stay or let it go.
follow this walk to where winds are lost
where wanton dreams and yearning lie
across the fields this side of paradise.
a fork alas so banal yet the heart must choose
oh! i've tried! to pose albeit with modern flair.
